Our hosts butt heads for the first time over the satire in Nobuhiko Obayashi’s Japanese horror classic
Robert and T take on another international film with the 1977 Japanese comedy/horror hybrid House, by Nobuhiko Obayashi. The film follows seven Japanese school girls on their summer vacation to a distant relative’s house, and what follows is a fast-paced gore fest as the girls are picked off one by one.
Robert describes how a film with a tumultuous production has attracted the attention and praise of horror and comedy aficionados while delving into the details that exalt this film above similar satirical films. T doesn’t share the same sentiments as he has to wrestle with his first experience of a full dose of ’70s camp. While the guys might not agree about the quality of this film, they both agree it is an unforgettable watch.
