Adi Jahić’s feature debut is now available to stream on Vimeo On Demand
Adi Jahić’s Things We Like was a favorite discovery of 2023 for many of Split Tooth’s film writers. We ran an in-depth interview with Jahić back in February, just before the film began its festival run and went on to earn rave reviews from critics and filmmakers. Jahić then hopped on the Split Picks podcast to talk about the film and its influences with associate film editor Bennett Glace. Now, we are thrilled to announce the online premiere of Things We Like, which is available now on Vimeo.
The film follows 25-year-old Georgia (Emma Kuhlman) as she drives from Vermont to Boston to meet Peter (Jahić), a young man she knows exclusively through interacting on the internet. Georgia has been stuck working a cubicle job for years. She rents a room from an older couple in the suburbs and desires change. With the opportunity to meet Peter in person, Georgia hits the road with no particular plan in mind. When she arrives, their night together develops in ways neither of them saw coming.
On the occasion of his debut film’s online premiere, Jahić says:
Things We Like is a delicate movie that asks viewers to look a little under the surface. As you can imagine for a film that was made with a small crew in between classes, in stolen locations, and with very little equipment, it isn’t perfect; it’s rough around the edges. But its formal limitations help bring out the messiness in the emotions, the contradictions of the characters, and a world beyond the frame. This film turns attempts at connection into a desire to seem. It turns mumbles and foibles into communication. Language is what we use to not communicate. This was truly a labor of love from the entire cast and crew. I hope you enjoy it.
