On Friday, April 6, Car Seat Headrest and Naked Giants kicked off the West Coast leg of their U.S. tour with a sold-out show at WOW Hall in Eugene, Oregon. Both bands hail from Seattle, and after Naked Giants opened the set, they joined Car Seat Headrest to form a seven-piece group.
But before the performance starts, it takes a few hours for the groups to set up. Their sound is not something that happens out of thin air. In this photo collection Split Tooth Media documents how the bands perfect their sounds from load in to showtime.
The seven-piece band is touring in support of Car Seat Headrest’s Twin Fantasy. The album was initially released in 2011 as Will Toledo’s sixth home-recorded album. Now, with a full band and Matador Records behind him, the 2018 version of Twin Fantasy boasts a huge sound as the follow-up to 2016’s breakout hit Teens Of Denial.
Naked Giants are also touring with their just-released debut album, Sluff. The sounds of Naked Giants will shake your bones into doing the twist. Hell, their face-melting, synth-infused, modified-pedal fierceness could wake the dead and put those stiffs into a frenzy of smiles, big hearts and good times.
Toledo wore a surgical mask during soundcheck to prevent spreading the cold he was fighting.
Thank you Naked Giants and Car Seat Headrest for sharing such personal space.
