Split Tooth To Screen 'Mercury in Retrograde' By Michael Glover Smith

Smith’s 2017 independent drama will play at Portland’s Movie Madness Miniplex on Saturday, May 6 at 2 p.m.

Earlier this month, Split Tooth celebrated its fifth anniversary by hosting our first film screening with Frank V. Ross’ Quietly on By (2005). We are thrilled to follow that sold-out event with a film near and dear to Split Tooth’s collective heart, Michael Glover Smith‘s Mercury in Retrograde (2017). The screening will take place on Saturday, May 6 at 2 p.m. at the Movie Madness Miniplex. The timing could not be more perfect, as Mercury will indeed be in retrograde!

Mercury in Retrograde follows three couples from Chicago who take a weekend vacation to a cabin in the Michigan woods. Over the course of the three day trip, hidden tensions and secrets slowly rise to the surface. With its stellar ensemble cast — including Najarra Townsend (Me and You and Everyone We Know) and Roxane Mesquida (Fat Girl) — the film was a turning point in Smith’s career that jumpstarted his recent run of successful feature films including Rendezvous in Chicago (2018) and Relative (2022).

The film will be followed by a specially recorded interview with Michael Glover Smith conducted by Split Tooth’s associate film editor, Bennett Glace.
